Moreland City Band Phoenix Project presents a world-premiere performance of Sam Keevers’ original tune “Hacksville”, composed especially for the band.
In the beginning
Beginning as a traditional brass band in 1882, in recent years Moreland City Band has evolved into a hip, funky, multicultural ensemble that reflects the vibe of the Moreland community. We encompass a range of musical styles including jazz and big band idioms, Balkan and other world music and traditional brass band arrangements. Instrumentation includes trumpets, horns, trombones, saxophones, tubas, double bass, guitar, piano, and percussion. Band members include current and former professional musicians, tertiary music students, music graduates and dedicated amateurs.
Moreland City Band Phoenix Project rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm under the musical direction of Scott Tinkler. The venue for the rehearsals is 16-22 Cross St Brunswick East. New members and visitors are welcome. Moreland City Band has a collection of excellent musical instruments that can be loaned to members and learners free of charge, provided that they attend rehearsals regularly.
Available for bookings
Moreland City Band is available for bookings for community, corporate and private functions. We can also put people seeking musicians in touch with professional musicians and jazz and world music groups from within the band. The band can be contacted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
